In the past week or so, there has been a lot of disturbing news in the media. There, of course, has been talk of the spreading of a world war in Syria, but closer to home, there has been talk of a race war here in the United States. I’ve been hearing talk of the “upcoming race war” for probably at least 10 years, but over the last week, it seems as if someone seems to be pushing for this war.
It seems as if there is a new news story every day. There was the story of the black guys that beat of the elderly veteran, and then there was another story of some thugs that beat up an Australian. Today’s story involves a couple of black six-year-olds picking on a white three year old, being egged on by an older 12 year old. The 12 year old then went to post the video on his Facebook page, with the title “When white people piss black people off part 1″. You have to be really tough to beat up a baby, I suppose. /sarcasm.
Last week, I posted that I generally don’t post someone’s race, not because I’m trying to hide it, but because I think that it’s unimportant. Obviously, if there are powers that be trying to start a race war, then race is relevant in limited circumstances. I’m not sure where this “race war” is being preached, but there must be someone out there trying to push it. I guess that’s where living in my limited world, where almost all black people I know are conservatives and at least half of the people I know either go to private school or are homeschooled, is a disadvantage. If it’s being preached on television (we hardly ever watch network TV, our TV broke last week, and we can’t afford to replace it), then I wouldn’t know. It’s probably being preached through rap music, but we don’t listen to it. If it’s being encouraged in the public schools, I wouldn’t know that either.
We have also discovered, in the last week, that there’s a guy that works for the Department of Homeland Security (who happens to be in charge of acquiring ammunition) that runs a web site called “War on the Horizon”. This web site also talks about an upcoming race war. It seems like what used to only be mentioned in passing, by both Neo-Nazi skinhead types and by black supremacist types, is now being actively planned and advertised.
I know that most people in the United States don’t want a race war… well, I think that most people don’t want it. Most people that I know don’t want a race war, at least. I meet very few people who are outwardly racist. There have been a couple of situations in our life in the past month that have made my family scratch our heads and wonder (the people that conspired against my husband to make him lose his job, and a person interviewing my husband for a job that showed a lot of interest in a couple of white people, but didn’t bother to really ask my husband any questions), but typically, most of the people we meet are generally uninterested in our races.
I guess if there’s one thing that will unite the black and the white people in a race war… they could probably unite in that my family has to go. Since we’re a biracial family and all. I hope that this, along with the Syrian war, does not come to pass, but I really have no say in the matter.
